Coach take spoils in a result that could hurt champions

A match that concerned two of the four table toppers went the way of the Coach and only time will tell if this result has hurt the defending champions.

The opening five frames were tight enough as Mucker, Bert and Steve Docherty were successful for the home side with S Massey and Raymie Jess taking frames for the visitors.

It all went the way of the Coach from that moment on as the final three frames went in their favour.

With the home side now back to full strength its not hard to see them going all the way this season.

Imperial 2 O’Reillys A 6

O’Reillys overcame a sticky fixture to keep themselves in the thick of the race for honours this campaign with an impressive display.

It all started well for the Imperial as M Jamison took the opener. That was as good as it got as Mark Kinneen kept up his 100% league record and new boy Colly Wilton got off to a winning start and O’Reillys ran riot to take the next four frames for victory.

This has now turned into a three way tie for the top but there are plenty more twists to come this year.

Castle Bar 2 Higgins’ 6

The home sides recent poor form continued and Higgins’ have once again found that winning feeling, which is an alarming feeling for the other teams involved in the title race.

This result was never in danger as the visitors came out of the blocks at great speed.

Tony Greenan winning frame one and followed by Gareth Mc Carten, Noel Meara and the ever green Trevor Martin, Paddy Mc Kivergan stopped the rut but that was short lived as Brendan Davis took the vital frame to secure both points.

As Gareth Moody has said, Higgins’ have had a run of non-victories but they are still joint top of this competitive division so beware the rest of the pack, when this side start winning the rest will know it will be hard to stop them.

A mid table clash that had the home side ruing their missed chance to record a rare win as they found themselves 4 - 2 up going into the doubles but both pairs matches went the way of the Market and the points shared.
