Club holds its awards night

WITH the 50th anniversary celebrations of the club looming on Saturday 23rd June, Rathfriland FC held their annual awards night at the club in the form of a steak barbeque for all of the 90 strong number of players and officials and loyal band of supporters on Saturday evening last.

The barbeque was followed by the main event of the evening – the presentation of the awards. The club was delighted to have Sheila Todd, wife of Club President Brian Todd, as the special guest for the evening who handed out the various prizes and awards which were as follows:- COLTS (FOURTHS) - Annett & Ingram Shield – Leading GoaLscorer – Gary O`Reilly; J Ingram Shield – Players Player Of The Year – John Ringland; B Stevenson Shield – Managers Player Of The Year – Andy Scott

Chairman Junior Murray made a speech thanking all the managers and assistant managers, players, matchday helpers, those who attended league meetings, the Davenport family for washing all four kits and the club sponsors which included the announcement Tom McAvoy and the Milestone Service Station who have committed again to another two year deal.

Committee member Gary Wilson also read out a greetings letter from George Wilton who could not attend on the night – thank you George. After thanking all the ladies for their help in the provision of the food and a reminder of the upcoming John Ingram Memorial Funday this Saturday June 2, the evening was rounded off with a great night`s entertainment and music being played by Newry band Atlantis.

A big thank you to all club members who helped out on the night.
