Clann na Banna news

CLANN na Derg U12 have some questions to ponder before the league starts its second round soon, after giving Rostrevor their first win of the season.

Despite having home advantage the local boys were not able to translate their undoubted talent onto the scoreboard.

After a strong push from Rostrevor in the first half, Clann na Derg were able to regain their composure and led by two points at the halfway point after a high ball was fisted into the net by Paddy McGrath.

At the other end of the park Callum McConville pulled off a diving save to keep them ahead.

With points in the half from Keelan Quigley, Eoin Scullion, Jordon Campbell and Jack Moore, it looked like they were well placed to continue their form, despite clocking up eight wides. But, as is often the case, the second half told a different story.

Rostrevor started the half with a goal followed by a series of points with no reply from Clann na Derg. The local lads lost some of the shape they had at the start of the game with possession being lost on a number of occasions due to poorly placed passes.

There was a glimmer of hope with a point from Conal Diamond followed by a goal from Jordon Campbell. Too late, however, to make the difference, the U12s continue to learn lessons the hard way.
