Without a regular goalkeeper from the start of the season, the local lads paid dearly in the first half with Glenn registering no less than six goals.

Clann na Derg were only able to reply with a handful of points to leave a mountain to climb in the second half.

Jack Moore stepped up to the challenge with the number 1 jersey and stemmed the flow to provide a more evenly balanced game.

Another change saw Ryan Donnelly move from his usual half back position to the half forward line. Ryan proved his versatility and clocked four points as well as man of the match for Clann na Derg.

But this wasn't enough to bridge the significant gap and suffer a heavy defeat with their local rivals.

After a break for the July holidays, the U12s were back in action again with an even bigger rivalry with local team Tullylish, who took honours in the first round of the league with a one point victory.

Clann na Derg just about made the numbers to field on Sunday with just one sub to spare. Sean Casey opened Clann na Derg's scoring with a pointed free followed by another from play by Keelan Quigley, who was covering ground over much of the field.

An injured Conall Diamond made way for Paddy McGrath after providing some great possession play. McGrath immediately made his presence felt with a point.

Tullylish, however, were showing strongly for the ball and converting their opportunities with six points and a goal. Jack Campbell collected the ball on the edge of the square and wasted no time dispatching it into the back of the net to give the locals a more respectable score line at half time, trailing by three points.

The second half saw Clann na Derg rejuvenated with much more possession and moving the ball cleanly up the field. Keelan Quigley converted the first two points of the half with no response from Tullylish. This was helped with great defensive work from Odhran McMullan, Fearghal Vaughan, James Neill and Jordon Campbell.

The Lawrencetown team started to come back into the game with a couple of points before Ryan Donnelly fisted home a superb goal from a Quigley cross. This was followed by another Jack Campbell goal and Paddy McGrath point.

Tullylish replied with another couple of points before, yet again, Jack Campbell found the net. A further point from Tullylish brought them within three but this proved to be the last score of the game giving the locals a well-earned victory over their closest rivals.

FIXTURES - Clann na Banna faces local rival Annaclone on Friday 3 August, with a 7:30pm throw-in at Annaclone. On Sunday morning the Clann na Derg U12s travel to Atticall, and in the Down Minor Football Championship Clann na Derg hosts Mitchel's at Aghaderg on Tuesday evening.

ALL-IRELAND QUARTER-FINAL TICKETS - Club members who would like to request tickets for this Saturday's All-Ireland quarter-final double-header at Croke Park should contact Michael Gillen or Kevin McCartan (07811 436 721) before 9pm on Tuesday.
Mayo v Down throws-in at 5pm, followed by Dublin v Laois at 7pm.
