Cheltenham cheerfor College girls

LURGAN College 1st XI squad have just returned from a very successful tour to Cheltenham where they were undefeated in a high profile invitational tournament.

The College girls travelled with neighbours, Portadown College and fellow northerners Strathearn School Belfast. En route, a strong Southern Irish contingent was apparent, namely St. Andrews College Dublin, Kilkenny College , King’s Hospital School Dublin and Salerno School Connaught.

Mainland opponents were Gower Sports College (Wales), Cheltenham Ladies School and Colston College.

Final v Salerno School (Jesus and Mary School) 2-0 Lurgan College (Ellen Mullen, Gemma McKitterick).

This was an intense few days for what was a very young squad. All matches were 50 minutes long, so playing five matches in two days was extremely demanding. A number of 1st XI regulars were also missing, which makes this achievement even more remarkable. Hopefully the experience gained will now prove valuable for both 1st and 2nd XI players as they move closer to Schools Cup seasons.

Full squad: Chloe McCann (captain), Ellen Mullen, Gemma McKitterick, Shannon Davidson, Jill Costley, Hannah Grieve, Julie Morrow, Stacie McCann, Judith Edgar, Megan Hanlon, Natasha Caldwell, Samantha Bann, Alex Hurst, Louise McKitterick, Naomi Costley, Tara McIlwaine, Chloe Neville, Kathryn Edgar, Carla Webster, Sarah McKeown, Hannah Warren.
