Captain Jess seals the win

FRIDAY October 28 saw Banbridge Ladies Thirds face Cooke Seconds at Havelock in their third league match of the season.

From the first whistle the visitors made a strong attack which was sustained for the early minutes of the first half, however a quick reacting defensive back line, and some incredible saves by keeper Claire McMullan made it difficult for Cooke to convert their possession into a goal.

As the Bann girls settled to their game, confidence grew and play moved from the defensive to the attack, with Jane Cousins putting the first score on the card.

In the second half, the home side came back with even more confidence, putting huge pressure on Cooke’s defenders. However, despite some impressive long runs by Joanna Palnoch, taking the ball right up to the circle, Bann struggled to increase the scoreline.

Towards the end of the match, a short corner gave captain Jess Hassan the opportunity to strike the ball confidently into the oppositions net, giving Banbridge Ladies a 2-0 win.
