Bursary boost for the district’s young sport stars

BANBRIDGE District Sports Association are seeking applications from young, budding stars of the future who would like to give their fledgling sports career a financial boost with a £500 bursary. in memory of Councillor John Ingram.

Introduced in memory of Councillor John Ingram, the bursary scheme was launched in April 2007 and since then 25 young people aged 14 to 17 from across the district have been awarded financial assistance help develop their sporting career.

Past beneficiaries have used their bursary to pay for training, travel and equipment, enabling them to recoup some of the cost involved in pursuing their chosen sport to a higher level.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 5pm on Friday 21 June 2013. Successful applicants will be announced at this year’s Junior Sports Awards event to be held in the Belmont Hotel, Banbridge on Wednesday 25 September 2013.
