Briggs bags a hat-trick in rout

A BRIGHT sunny morning brought Portadown to the Leisure Centre.

This fixture last time brought a flood of goals and Dromore were one up within the first five minutes, a sweet pass by Euan setting up Matthew Briggs, who finished well.

Briggs was on the score sheet again on 10 minutes after some neat passing by Philip.

Dromore’s passing was a delight to watch with Morgan, Adam and Magill picking each other out with great passes.

One of these moves brought the ball into the box and Portadown cleared, but only to Nathan who from ten yards out, finished with a nice shot into the top of the net.

The half ended with great passing again as Adam assisted Magill who used his trademark chip from out of the area to beat the keeper.

Both Joel and Morgan joined in the attack when ever they could while Nathan stood firm at the back. Josh keeping well and mopping up and making the necessary saves.

The second half started well for Dromore, with probably the best goal, the build up play was exceptional with one or two touches between Morgan, Philip and Magill, the ball ended up with Adam and a great finish.

The next goal came from a great cross by Magill that a Portadown defender turned into his own net.

Dromore were now dominating the game and Alan had two chances that went over the bar. Euan and Joel put shots just over and Philip went just wide.

Then after good play down the left Joel supplied a great pass to Euan who broke into the box and scored with his right foot, which was great shot with his weaker foot, something the coaches had worked on in training. John Marc played well in defence second half.

There was just enough time for a second hatrick in two weeks for Briggs who has now netted 12 times - the same number as Adam.
