BANBRIDGE Academy have been beaten in the final of the All Ireland Schoolboys hockey tournament in Dublin.

After three days competition Cookstown have come away as All Ireland School Boys Champions, beating last year's winners 4-2 in the final earlier today (Friday).

In a match that saw Banbridge take the initial lead going one nil up early on in the first half, it didn't take Cookstown long to equalise and then nose a head at two goals to one just before half time.

Banbridge were not yet beaten and pulled back level at two all early into the second half. However, Cookstown displayed perhaps a bit more determination and managed to put some distance between the two teams when the converted twice more to win the final four goals to two.
