Bowlers prepare for start of new indoor campaign

With the outdoor bowls season reaching its conclusion, the thoughts of many bowlers are already beginning to turn to the indoor format of the sport.

The Ballymena & District Indoor League commences next Monday, September 21, with matches in two of the three divisions.

Already the first division has a withdrawal with Clough Rangers having to drop out owing to being unable to field a team.

In the Knockout Cup, the winner of the Golf Club v Services ‘A’ tie will now gain entry to the third round as a result of Clough’s withdrawal.

Matches scheduled for next Monday night, September 21, are:

Division Two: BPFA ‘B’ v Portglenone CC; Antrim Indoor Bowling Club v Golf Seniors; Services ‘A’ v Harryville CC; First Ballymena v Glenravel.

Division Three: Maine v Eaton Park; All Saints v Services ‘B’; West Church v Round Tower.

MAGRATH SHIELD

The final of the Magrath Shield will take place at 1st Ahoghill Presbyterian Church Hall on Monday 21st September 2015 at 7.45pm.

The competition was inaugurated by the late Bryan Magrath in 1993 and has raised thousands of pounds for Cancer charities over the years. This year the final will be contested between Michelin, who won the Ballymena & District Indoor Bowling League last year and 1st Ahoghill who were the winners of the Churches League the previous year.
