Bowlers get the new season underway

THERE was a fair attendance of members present when Dromore Outdoor Bowling Club got their season under way.

President Hugh Maxwell welcomed old and new members and wished everyone a good bowling season.

Hugh then asked his wife Joyce to deliver the first jack and bowl. Vice President T Ogle presented Mrs Maxwell with a small gift to mark the occasion.

A competition was held but owing to the weather conditions had to be called off.

NOTES FOR YOUR DAIRY: Wednesday April 17 - Friendly game away to Hilden; Monday April 22 - Rinks 50p, will start at 6.45pm; Saturday April 27 - the “A” team will start back in Senior 1 away to Dundonald while the “B” team will start their League at home to Ballymacarret

In the Irish League Cup the A team have a bye in the first round and have got a home tie in the second round.

The B team also received a bye in the first round but they face a long journey in round Two going to Cork to face I.C.I.Y.M.A.

In the N.I.B.A. Cup the seniors will have a first round bye but will have to travel in round Two.

The juniors in the Juniors Cup will be away to Balmoral in round 1.

In the mid-week League the Dromore mid-week team will start the defence of their title at home to Rathfriland on Tuesday April 30 at 6.30pm.
