Bizarre own goal sets Glens on their way

Banbridge Town U14s 2

BANBRIDGE began this game very well but went behind after five minutes to a bizarre goal when keeper Kalem Farrell was watching a high hopeful ball go past the post, the wind caught it and blew it in to the goal.

Five minutes later Declan Loy had a chance to equalise after a great through ball by Josh Buchanan but his shot went just over the bar.

Banbridge did equalise in the 20th minute after Robert Colfer played a lovely one two with Declan Loy and kept his head to slot the ball past the keeper.

However the joy was shortlived as Glentoran took advantage of slack defending three minutes later to go ahead again.

Declan Loy went close again twice before half time with good through balls from both Robert Colfer and Stephen McCavitt. Just on the half time whistle Glentoran scored a third when the ball bounced unfortunately off Stephen McCavitt's head from a corner for an own goal.

In the second half Glentoran nearly increased their lead but Kalem farrel made a terrific save.

Fifty-five minutes in a lovely little ball from Mark McDonald set up Robert Colfer beautifully and he coolly chipped it passed the advancing keeper.

Both teams had further chances.Declan Loy was unlucky at one end and Kalem Farrell made another excellent save at the other. However Glentoran finished the stronger and scored twice in the last few minutes for a convincing win.
