Bill makes it a hat trick of individual prizes in the Winter League

Bill McCandless, the number one player from team 4 and the newly elected captain of the golf club, became the first player in this year’s Winter League to win 3 individual prizes.

To win one is extremely difficult, to win three is quite incredible.

Bill was runner-up in the low section with 32 points (34-2).

Paul McAleavey, captain of team 3, won the low section with 33 points.

Cathal McNiff (team 6) won the middle section with 35 points. Cathal was one under par gross after 8 holes and heading for a record score. He came to grief at the ninth but still finished with a brilliant score.

Seamus McGrath (team 7) was runner-up in the middle section with 34 points.

Cathal McAnarney (team 2) shot the top score of round five, a near flawless 36 points. Cathal won the high section and Aidan Lavery (team 4) was runner-up with 34 points.

Sunday November 16 - Danny O’Boyle played the nine holes of the Sunday course in only one over par gross. His nett 29 was one of the best winning scores of the year, only half a point behind the record holder, Kenny Arlow.

1st- Danny O’Boyle (16) nett 29; 2nd- Aidy McEvoy (13) Nett 30.5; 3rd- Sean McGreevey (19) Nett 30.5.

Monday November 17 - Philip Mallon recorded his seventh sweep win of the year and five of them were on Mondays. He likes to get his week off to the perfect start. It was a rewarding day all round for Philip as he split the 2’s pot with Paul Faulkner.

1st- Philip Mallon (10) 36 points; 2nd- Kenny Arlow (13) 35 points.
