Belfast Giants pay visit to Fair Hill PS

FAIR HILL Primary School had some Giant visitors during the week.

It came after Tesco and the Belfast Giants joined forces again this season to deliver an exciting new reading programme.

Two Giants players, Adam Keefe and Brock McBride, met and worked with over 40 Primary 3 children.

Adam explained, “The session involved us reading the Giants books; ‘Just Like Me!’ to each class; it’s a story about making different types of friends. This was followed with puppet making and quizzes using the characters in the book. Both classes listened well and got all of their questions right. Well done to all!

Brock added, “Books and reading can open up different worlds and imagination for children. We had a blast today! Our programme aims to help to improve literacy levels in schools, meaning children are able to learn while they are having fun! Thanks to Tesco, we are really excited to deliver this programme to over 1500 children this season.”

Each school receives copies of the books, quizzes and activities to encourage children to continue to consider and enjoy the positive messages in each story. Each child receives a free ticket into any Giants home game, courtesy of Tesco.

Adam added, “We hope to see some of those great puppets in the crowd soon!”
