Rathfriland U9s 0

Warrenpoint U9s 2

ON Monday evening Rathfriland U9s took on Warrenpoint U9s in the Cup.

Rathfriland started brightly, taking the game to Warrenpoint right from the first whistle with Eli Baxter impressing in midfield. Rathfriland were well organised and composed and were making life very difficult for a strong Warrenpoint team.

The second half was more of the same with Adam Loughlin putting Warrenpoint under pressure with his long throws. Warrenpoint got stronger as the game progressed and took the lead with five minutes to go when the ball broke loose in the box.

Rathfriland battled on but Warrenpoint scored again in the dieing seconds to go through to the semi final.

This game brought to a close Rathfriland U9s first season and they saved their best performance for last. This was an excellent performance against a very good Warrenpoint team and proved that Rathfriland can compete with the best in this league.

This was a very good season for the young Rathfriland team from which they can take great heart. Once again a big thank you to all the parents and supporters who travelled over for the game and for their support through out the season.
