Bann Twos push Victorians all the way in Belfast

Banbridge Ladies Seconds lost out an agonising game 1-0 to Victorians in Belfast last weekend.

The hosts started with the pass-back but Bann intercepted and began strongly, with most of the play in their attacking half.

Great play by Melissa Whan and Rebecca Huey meant that Bann had some great chances up the left wing.
Bann then got a short corner, which was pushed out by Rachel Groves to Jessica Hassan who had an excellent shot which was, unfortunately for the lively visitors, saved by the Victorians keeper.

As Victorians slipped through the Banbridge defence, Louise Beckett made some excellent saves to keep the score at 0-0 at half-time.

Going into the second half, Victorians made some great runs into the Bann defence. With some great tackles by Rachel Groves and Rebecca Dale, Bann were able to keep Victorians at bay.

Sarah Anderson made a fantastic run up the pitch and got a shot in at goal but it was well saved by the in-form Victorians keeper.
Unfortunately for the visitors, Bann then gave away a short corner that made it 1-0 to Victorians as they despatched a strong shot.

Bann had to step up in order to guard their goal. However, Victorians were not able to get anymore shots as both sides fought until the end.

In the end, it wasn’t to be for the Bann girls, who had given their all but were edged out by the narrowest of margins.
