On Saturday, the Edina sponsored Banbridge Seconds travelled the short distance to Comber Road, to play local rivals Lisnagarvey in their final group game of the Junior 1 League Cup.
Bann welcomed Sam Farson and Colin Dowds into the side.
Bann started brightly, with the forward line of Mark Campbell, William Malcolmson and Simon Magowan having a number of efforts well saved. Bann broke the deadlock, when Charlie Norris defected the ball into the net, after a well worked short corner.
Colin Dowds then added a second shortly after, with his shot proving too much for the Garvey keeper.
Bann continued to dominate possession for large periods, playing the ball around the back, encouraging Lisnagarvey to step forward.
William Malcolmson added a third and fourth goal for Bann just before the half time whistle, firing in two excellent identical reverses into the bottom corner, giving the keeper no chance.
The second half continued as the first had left off, with Bann grabbing another. This time, Mark Campbell got his name on the scoresheet, after a great passing goal involving William Malcolmson and Sam Farson, led to Campbell finishing well.
As the second half developed, Garvey sought to get back in the game, but any attacks were thwarted by Bingham in goal.
Mark Campbell grabbed his second, and Banbridge’s sixth with another superb finish after great link up play in midfield. This win sees Banbridge top their group and will now face the winners of group A in the final which is scheduled to be held on the 27th December.
