Banbridge Ladies 1

Dungannon Ladies 1

The 2.30pm pass-back at Havelock Park was an opportunity for Banbridge ladies to get back into second place in the table over Dungannon.

Banbridge, missing a few of their first eleven players, started well causing the Dungannon backline some problems but they held strong.

Forward line runs from Cathy Rees, Alex Jenkinson and Megan Whan had Dungannon on the back foot early in the game.

Banbridge battled hard all over the pitch on what was a cold and crisp day, however a well worked penalty corner allowed Dungannon to gain the lead in the 17th minute.

Dungannon held the lead until half time with Banbridge coach Robin Madeley praising the efforts of the Banbridge ladies.

Banbridge came out fighting in the second half and were able to create some great chances but the Dungaannon keeper was in good form on the day.

Dungannon had few chances to break through the strong Banbridge defence with Alannah Magee, Megann McKenna and Jill Mehaffy holding strong in defence.

Great link up play between Sarah McCracken and Amy Atkinson in midfield gave Alex Jenkinson the breakthrough goal Banbridge had been looking for after great applied attacking pressure.

Banbridge continued to push on for the second goal winning numerous penalty corners but were unable to convert. Unfortunately for Banbridge ladies it finished honours even at Havelock Park but a great performance and team effort.

Banbridge ladies will host Kilkenny in the Irish Trophy at 2.30pm.
