Retail brand SPAR has announced its support of five key 10K road races across the Province in 2010 as part of its goal to encourage active lifestyles in the local community. The first race was a huge success and the organisers of the Banbridge race are expecting record breaking entrant figures in both events.

Race Director Heather Martin commented, “We are delighted to have SPAR as title sponsors of the Bann 10K and Fun Run. Many thanks must also go to our other key sponsors which include Shoefair Sports, Ardis Living, Quails, Banbridge Council, Eden Health Care and Opus memories“.

Official charities to benefit from the race this year are the Mourne Mountain Rescue Team and the Southern Area Hospice Services. The event is organized by Banbridge Running Club and once again this year they have enlisted the services of the local primary schools in designing the official race t-shirt for the event!

The Bann 10K is open to everyone aged 15 and above, ranging from beginners to experienced athletes. Walkers are also welcome, although organisers will stop recording results at 8.45pm. The Fun Run is for families and fun runners.
