Banbridge’s White storms to Super Series win

Irish International, Russell White from Banbridge stormed to victory in Round 4 of the Triathlon Ireland Super Series in Ballyronan, Lough Neagh on Saturday ahead of over 400 competitors.

White emerged from the slightly longer than 750 metre swim in a time of 12:06 and went on to extend his lead over the 20 kilometre bike and 5 kilometre run to finish in a time of 1:00:45.

“It was a great day out, first race back in Ireland for a while, it was probably 2013 since the last time I raced at home so it was good to come back and enjoy the local support.” White commented at the finish line.

Juniors, James Walton and Darren Dunne finished in 2nd and 3rd in a time of 1:03:08 and 1:03:39 respectively.

The women’s race was won by former Irish International cyclist Heather Foley in a time of 1:10:03.

Barely out of breath at the finish line Heather commented: “I was happy today with my performance and it’s always good to win but I was more pleased to get the best out of myself.”

Rachel Hawker from Kenmare took 2nd in 1:12:17 with Dublin native Eimear Fitzmaurice finishing 3rd in 1:14:29.
