Gilmore is now back at Ulster Premier League side Portadown.

He had netted four goals so far this season for Bann but returns to Edenvilla Park with the blessing of Banbridge coach Mark Tumilty.

“Neil made the decision himself before Christmas,” said the Head Coach. “He has other commitments on Thursday evenings and he was going to struggle to make the number of sessions that he needs to so making it into the squad would have been tough.

“It wouldn’t have been fair to leave out guys who have been working hard in training all week, especially with the strength in depth we have.

“I completely understand where Neil is coming from with it. He can go to Portadown and play 70 minutes every week.

“He’s a loss to us. He scored a lot of important goals for us and impressed but we should have enough in the squad to keep us going.”

Meanwhile, Bann will begin a friendly tournament against Lisnagarvey and Cookstown this week as they travel to Garvey on Thursday night before facing the Hillsborough side at Havelock on Saturday.
