Banbridge girls suffer defeat

Banbridge travelled to North Down on Saturday November 22.

Both teams were up for the game but Banbridge pressed well from the start.

Both teams were evenly matched with good attacking set pieces from the Banbridge forward line consisting of Cathy Rees, Amy Atkinson, Rachel Cairns, Rachel Kerr and Alex Jenkinson.

The Banbridge midfield line up of Samantha Bann, Gail McConnell, Sarah McCracken and Elayne Brown also created some good attacking play.

Sarah McCabe the Banbridge goalkeeper made some brilliant saves but it was unfortunate that the ball fell to the North Down striker for North Down to go 1-0 up.

North Down were awarded numerous short corners and managed to convert one of them making the score 2-0.

The second half started well with North Down striving to penetrate the Banbridge defensive set up of Gina Woods, Megan McKenna and Charlie Brush who fought hard making some crucial clearances but were unfortunate that a goal was awarded to North Down making it 3-0 to the hosts.

Cathy Rees soon responded with a well taken goal making it 3-1.

North Down worked hard and were rewarded when a scuffle in the D lead to another goal. (4-1).

In the final minutes of the game Alex Jenkinson converted a well worked short corner to finish the game 4-2.
