Pick of the day was junior rider Cameron McIntyre, who was riding in the A3 race, along with team mates Kevin McAlinden and Daniel Purdy.

Cameron managed to get across to the early breakaway on the last of six laps, to finish a fine fourth, which was a fine effort.

Cameron was delighted with his placing after the race and the club expect bigger things to come from this rider.

In the masters race Brian Hannon and Paul McGuckin took to the start line in what was a strong field, with Phoenix CC having the strength in numbers over everyone else, it was going to be a hard task to win for the Banbridge boys, and so it proved on the last lap after constant attacks Phoenix got a rider up the road and he held on to win with Brian finishing in 3rd place.

Bad luck for Paul, who suffered a rear wheel puncture on the last lap.

In the lady’s race Shenna McKiverigan finished 10th in a race that was dominated by rising teenage star Ciara Doogan of Errigal CC.

In the A4 race, Banbridge had Andy Beattie as their sole representative and Andy was relieved to avoid a crash in the latter stages of the race to finish in the main group.

On a sad note Banbridge CC were sad to hear of the passing of former club stalwart Stanley Thompson. Stanley raced for Banbridge CC for many years with great success.

And when he hung up his racing wheels, Stanley and his great friend Peter Donaghy could be seen out most weekend’s touring around the countryside taking in the scenery and just enjoying his cycling. The club’s thoughts are with his family at this sad time.
