Ballyvally archers get in the festive spirit at novelty shoot

Over 100 members of Ballyvally Archery Club turned up to shoot in the club’s last tournament before the Christmas break.

It was a novelty shoot with snowmen, Christmas crackers and other festive treats as the targets. Top girl and top boy in the Under 9 class were Katie Jennings and John Shannon with Zack Kelly, Hannah Hawthorne, Daniel James, Ethan McKinney, Reuben Emerson and Taylor Barlow all in the medals. Youngest archer Aoife McDermott came first in the class for five year olds.

Top archers in the Under 13 sections were Rachel Wilson and Peter Kinney. Also shooting well and in the medals were Rachel Whelan, Edward Teggart, Sienna Foster, Niamh McGeown, Jordan Wilson, Niamh Norris, Molly Dunne, Aidan Heaney and Ross Graham.

In the more advanced Under 18 class, with an entry of 22 archers, the top girl and boy were Hollie Teggart (304) and Fraser Leonard (307).

Also in the medals were Andrea Murray Lopez, Sian Heaney, Tom Mehaffey and David Fairley.

In the senior ladies’ section, the top archers were Orla O’Connor and Romaine Mehaffey with Karen Quigley, Geraldine Corr, Patricia McLean and Elaine Barlow in the runners up places.

The biggest class of the night was that of beginner men with 23 entries. Top archers were Robin Houston folllowed by Tom Williamson second and David Warburton in third.

In the more experienced men’s section, Paul Copeland (337) won with Gary Mulligan second (294) and Norman McMath third on 280.

TEAM WINNERS

The Wilson Team A, comprised of father Alastair and daughter Rachel, won the family competition and the winning junior team was composed of Jordan Wilson, Rachel Wilson and Peter Kinney.

Special Lady Paramount prizes were awarded to the following for their dress: Eden McMath, Daniel Fee, Ethan McKinney, Rachel Whelan, Katie Jennings, Aoife McDermott, Michael Briggs, Tom Mehaffey, Jenna Ferguson and Tom Caughey.
