At the halfway stage the news was still not good for the home team as they were now 31 in arrears. Clinghan was doing all right being all square, McKenny at eight down , Cranney at thirteen and SG ten down.

At the three quarters stage Dromore had improved their position to be down by eighteen, Clinghan had improved now ahead by nine, SG had also improved to be just three in arrears, Cranney was down by 10 with McKenny in the red by 14.

In the final ends the visitors put the pedal down to take six points leaving the home team with only one.

It was a good start to the season for Clinghan winning by eight, but a bad day for the other rinks. SG had a losing margin of 11, McKenny was down by 14 with Cranney 17 in the red.

This Saturday things do not get any easier when the Seniors take on the present champions Whitehead away at 2pm.

The Dromore Junior team were favourites when they made the short journey to Lagan Valley on Saturday last but the hosts had other ideas and sent the locals back home with only one point in an 18 shot defeat.

Rink Two: N Lindsay, C Davis, J Noddings, S Malcomson.

Rink Three: S McCrum, G McDowell, R McCandless, H Maxwell.

The home team held a four shot advantage at the five end mark with Dromore ahead on two rinks. Sudlow and Malcomson were ahead by two each, Maxwell was down by three and Gribben by five.

At the halfway stage the game seemed to be a close encounter with one shot in favour of Lagan Valley with Dromore only ahead on one rink. Malcomson led by five with Sudlow and Gribben one down and Maxwell down by four.

In the third quarter Lagan Valley took the bull by the horns to lead by nine with Dromore still with one rink ahead; Sudlow by four. Malcomson was all square, Maxwell was down by five and Gribben was having had a bad quarter and was eight down.

The Valley pushed on in the final ends to score an 18 shot victory and six points.

Sudlow saved a whitewash by finishing with a two shot victory, Malcomson a bad run in to go down by 10, Maxwell put in a big effort to only lose by a single with Gribben behind by nine shots.

This Saturday the Juniors are at home to 59th Old Boys in a league game at 2pm.
