Bad away form continues for Dromore Seniors

THE Dromore Senior team again showed their bad away form in a 43 shot defeat to Dundonald in their league game on Saturday last.

Rink 1: B Paylor, G Dawson, R Greer, G Clinghan.

Rink 2: S Jess, H Hylands, W Clinghan, D Shanks.

Rink 3: T Ogle, A Matthews, K Aiken, SG Malcomson.

Rink 4: T Wilson, D Graham, D Burns, F Cranney.

The seniors could not have got a better start, leading by 22 shots at the five end mark. Shanks was 11 ahead, Clinghan was four up, Cranney was five to the good with SG two up.

The home team showed no mercy in the next quarter, now ahead by two. Shanks’ lead was now six, Clinghan was ahead by three, SG was in the red by six while Cranney was five behind.

The seniors were still in the game at the three quarter stage, down by seven. Clinghan was the only rink up by 11 shots. Shanks was a single down, SG was 11 in the red with Cranney down by six.

The seniors were hit by a whirlwind in the last six ends, scoring only 10 shots and conceding 46 to come home with a very heavy defeat. Clinghan was the sole winner by five, Shanks lost by 13, SG was down by 21 with Cranney 14 behind.

This Saturday the seniors have no game owing to the NIBA Championship at Carrick.

The Dromore Junior team were at home to Londonderry Park last Saturday in a league game and after a tense game came home for a nine shot win and five points.

Rink 1: N Lindsay, T Ledlie, J Noddings, S Malcomson.

Rink 2: J McCullough, G McDowell, H Maxwell, T Sudlow.

Rink 3: A Clinghan, T Gribben, G Harvey, G Ervine.

Rink 4: G Beggs, J Topping, I Houston, A Sudlow.

After a lengthy break of no home games the juniors were looking for the bulk of the points and after five ends were 11 shots to the good. Ervine was leading the way nine shots ahead, T Sudlow had a lead of four, A Sudlow was all square with Malcomson down by two.

The juniors were rocked back when, at the halfway stage, they were two shot in arrears. Ervine’s lead was now four, A Sudlow was five ahead, T Sudlow was all square and Malcomson was in the red by 11.

The news was worse at three-quarter stage as the visitors were now leading by nine. Ervine had got his players on track again to lead by 12, A Sudlow was a single to the good, T Sudlow was trailing by seven and Malcomson was still finding it tough 15 behind.

The home team got their act together in the final six ends to get their heads in front, crossing the finishing line by nine. Ervine had a big victory of 16, A Sudlow was a winner by eight, T Sudlow went down by seven and Malcomson came back to go down by eight.

This Saturday the juniors are away to Bets Bangor in a league game.
