J Hamilton’s rink was involved in a close game. It was down by two shots at 10 ends (5-7) but after 17 ends Bann led by eight shot (18-10). Eventually they won but only by a single shot.

P Short’s rink was seven shots in arrears at six ends (2-9) but after 17 ends Paddy’s rink had gained a 16 shot advantage (27-11). Bann proceeded to win by 18 shots (32-14).

M Campbell’s rink had a close game according to the score at 10 ends. They were seven shots adrift at 12 ends (6-13) but the score could have easily been 40 plus to the Bann rink as with every end they were lying a minimum of five shots on each end; the Musgrave end was strikeing each end with good results. It didn’t last as Bann went on to win by 10 shots – 25-15.

The highlight of this game was when a friendly mink emerged from the shrubs and played with the bowls, curling its body around them and chasing them as the bowls came into the head.

The third round will be played on June 9.

Bann’s A team have a difficult second round tie in the IBA Cup after being drawn away to Portrush. The B team also are drawn away to a Provincial side, Ballymoney, on May 22.
