Away win for Bann ladies Thirds

Banbridge Ladies Thirds travelled to Stormont last Friday night to play PSNI Seconds. Bann were without top goal scorer Danni Thompson but after two big wins were confident of taking the points from this game.

Despite the wet and windy conditions, Bann started the game very strong and immediately found themselves in the PSNI circle putting pressure on the defence. Katie Uprichard and Jayne Walker worked hard on the right to feed the ball into the circle and Melissa Whan went close to giving Bann an early lead. Despite constant pressure in the PSNI circle, Bann could not find the goal.

Eventually the Bann breakthrough came when Aileen Lawson took a quick free, passing the ball to Jayne Walker who crossed the ball into the circle for Katie Carson to slot home at the back post.

The second half started as the first with Banbridge again dominating in all areas of the pitch. The PSNI battled but were unable to break down the strong Bann defence. After a number of penalty corners, Bann eventually got the goal they deserved when Megan Whan put the ball in the back of a net from a well taken penalty corner strike. Bann play away to Dungannon on Friday night where they hope to continue their winning form. Thanks to Hannah Hopkins for umpiring.
