Archery: Jake hits three golds in a perfect end

Another budding young archery star stole the headlines in week three of Ballyvally Archery Club’s Indoor League.

Jake Walsh, one of the club’s up and coming compound archers, shot the perfect end with three golds. Jake is also putting in great scores outdoors and is hoping to be selected for the GB Field archery squad in 2015.

So far this year over 400 archers of all ages have been involved in leagues run by the club.

Juniors shoot 36 arrows to put in a score and must have three scores to claim their badge, which will be awarded at Ballyvally’s annual Presentation Night in the Belmont Hotel on Friday 30 January 2015.

OCTOBER TOURNAMENT

With the Autumn outdoor season now starting and with the good weather supposed to continuing, Ballyvally archers are looking forward to the next shoot.

This will be in the grounds of Loughbrickland House on Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 October.

This will be a British Record Status shoot with scores going towards qualification for both Great Britain and Republic of Ireland Teams for the European Field Archery Championships in Poland in 2015.

30 NEW ARCHERS IN SEPTEMBER

With a growing interest in the ancient sport of archery, partly due to the Hunger Games TV series and especially from girls and ladies, Ballyvally has had 30 new members in the month of September.

The club is able to accommodate the growing numbers because it now runs eight organised sessions on Wednesdays and Thursday every week in Banbridge Leisure Centre.

Sessions start after school at 3.30pm and continue after tea-time. For further details contact Club Chairman Frank Mulligan on 028 406 23748.
