Annual memorial race takes place

The rainy weather conditions on the last Tuesday evening in June did not deter Dromore athletes competing in the 18th Helen Wilkinson Memorial Race.

Coach Michael McGreevy organised the first race for the youngest children and each little one who participated was delighted to receive a medal.

In the Junior Race that followed, Jacob Somerville acquitted himself admirably to take first place, with Ryan McDowell second and Adam McKinnin third.

A very competitive Senior Race followed with one of the largest number of runners since the competition began.

Adam Hilditch finished strongly in first place, followed by Stephen O’Gorman second and Ethan Dunn who finished third.

Following the races, a delious supper was served by Glynis and Karen and members of Dromore Athletic Club.

John Wilkinson presented the prizes and thanked coach Michael McGreevy for organising the races; all helpers, family and friends who attended, and the ever courtious staff of Dromore Leisure Centre who provided the facilities.
