Ann wins with 39 points after beating Alanna on countback

Ann Mairs won the ladies golf competition on Tuesday 10 May with 39 points after beating Alanna Gartland on countback.

The Best Gross winner was Alanna Gartland while Karen Curran won Section A on countback from Annmarie Canavan with 38 points.

Section B was won by Lorna McKinstry, maintaining good form with 38pts.

The Section C winner was Jacinta Rooney with 37pts.

The ladies golf branch donated the proceeds to The Stroke Association.

Joy Gowdy, the Lady President and worthy ambassador for the Stroke Association spoke about how rewarding volunteering with stroke victims is. Joy is involved especially with the Banbridge branch of the Stroke Association and had some wonderful stories to tell of the progress that these people make from the support they receive from the Stroke Association.

Joy urged anyone who feels they can help to do so.

The “Get into Golf Programme” run by Club Pro Jason Greenaway and Assistant Pro Richard Kilpatrick is progressing well.

Several of the ladies have ventured out onto the course with volunteer lady members and the club hope that many of them will avail of the introductory offer to join the club for the remainder of the season.

Last Friday’s Mixed Competition was won by husband and wife team Karen and Sherwin Curran.

The next event takes place on Friday 27th May. Entry in clubhouse.

Intermediate Team play Enniskillen in the next round. Home match May 29th, away match June 5th.

The Junior Cup team were beaten by Holywood, and we wish then success in their future rounds.

Cowdy Cup Team lost 11 to 13 away to Malone and play at home on Sunday 22nd. All to play for.

The Minor cup Play away to Ballycastle Monday 23rd May.

The Challenge Cup play Letterkenny on Sunday 22nd May in Letterkenny.

Banbridge hosted the ‘The Irish Mixed Foursomes Qualifier’ on Sunday May 15th with Banbridge qualifying for the next round where the will play Mahon Castle in Warrenpoint.
