Anglers continue good run with another win in Division One

All the latest results from Division One of the Pool League.

Mulhollands 5

Legion B 3

It looked like the Legion were running away with the game when they gained an early 2-0 lead through Wallace and Gault.

But Bingham McCormick Jardine and Moore rattled off four frames in a row to secure at least a point.

The Legion won the seventh frame to leave the point still to fight for, but Bingham and Jardine won again so the home side took all the points.

Market B 5

O’Reillys B 3

Two sides who have struggled badly this season came head-to-head in a fixture no one would be keeping an eye out for. Neither side had a win to their name but the away side were still confident of getting their first victory of the season. The Dromore men had other ideas!

In similar fashion to the other match in Dromore, the away team went 2-0 up through “Ben Mitchell” McGrath and Eugene McKay, but Holland, McDonald, Cairns and Hodgson won the next four for the home team.

Also similar to the Mulholland’s game, the doubles were shared seeing the Market get their first points on board this season.

Railway 4

Imperial 4

Two teams who, with a little luck and a good string of results, could push the Anglers for the title came head-to-head in the Railway Inn.

A draw did neither team a favour and in typical fashion it ended a draw!

Kerr and Noble put the away side into the lead but the duo of Damien and Alan Paxton equalised.

The Railway then took the lead through Smyth before Jamison levelled the scores again.

I’ve said for several seasons now that it’s very rarely you see a team win both doubles frames, and they were shared again.

However, on paper, a draw is probably a fair result.

Anglers 5

Imperial 3

The Anglers seem unstoppable in this division.

McClean and Cosgrave just keep on winning. As a result, they raced into an early 2-0 lead.

Jamison Road one back but Cathal McAnarney put the anglers two to the good again.

Corbett fought hard to get the Imperial back in the game but Tumilty secured a draw for the anglers before McParland and McClean earned the Anglers the win.

Legion B 7

Market B 1

The Market didn’t have a full squad which didn’t help their quest for their first win of the season. McCahon, Gault and Adair made the game seem over in no time as the away team only had four players. It seemed a worthless task for the away side to travel two men down, and it was proven to be.
