Amateurs maintain unbeaten home record

Dromore Amateurs Ladies 4

Carrick Ladies 0

DROMORE Ladies hosted Carrick Ladies at Holm Park, Dromore.

Matches between these two teams have always been close with each side winning their respective home game last season.

Dromore made the brighter start and after only two minutes striker Mel Metcalfe had a great chance saved and then, almost immediatly after that, Kerry Taggart saw the keeper make an outstanding save to deny her after finding herself one on one with the keeper.

Thirteen minutes in and Roger McCartan had to change the line up as Mel had to to come off after picking up a leg injury. Nicky Clements replaced her and went straight in as centre forward.

Dromore continued to apply pressure and Nicky rattled the Carrick crossbar with a 30 yard free kick which dipped at the last minute, catching everyone out.

On 37 minutes Kerry again found herself one on one with the keeper with the same outcome as the keeper spread herself to make the save.

Dromore’s management team were beginning to wonder if it was going to be one of those nights when on 44th minute they were awarded a free kick just outside the box. Tracy Orr and Nicky Clements went to the ball and whilst the rest of the home crowd anticapated Tracy striking it, she side passed it to Nic who moved it onto her right foot, bent it round the wall and into the bottom corner of the net.

Dromore were sent back out after half time being told to just to keep going as the chances would come. With 48 minutes on the clock Jill Bruce found herself at the penalty spot, ball at her feet and just as she was about to turn a Carrick defender completely upended her. The referee pointed to the spot and Tracey blasted the ball into the net.

The pressure was beginning to tell on the Carrick team who were beginning to lose discipline and after 55 minutes had a player red carded for lashing out twice at Amy- Louise.

Dromore continued to apply pressure and in the 75th minute Kerry Taggart struck a goal that would be worthy of goal of the season. She collected the ball just outside the box, wrong footed the defender and then unleashed an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net.

With the extra player Dromore attacked at will forcing chance after chance, only some great goalkeeping and some poor finishing prevented Dromore from adding to their lead. Emma McClements, who came on for a slightly dizzy Amy-Louise, and Nicky Clements all missed some great chances to widen the gap but with just a few minutes left Dromore got their reward as Jill Bruce scored from close range.
