All-night competition takes place at Islandderry Fishery

THE annual all night competition and BBQ took place recently at Islandderry Fishery, Dromore.

Although the conditions were not great the anglers enjoyed a good nights fishing with the majority catching and released fish throughout the night.

Belfast angler Paddy Brunty started the night off well hooking into a lovely 3lb 13 trout early on in the evening followed by a fin and tail perfect fish of 5lb 12. These and another of 2lb8 gave him a total weight of 12lb1 and first place.

Second went to one of the younger anglers, 15 year old Andrew Rea from Banbridge fished well throughout the night and took second with three fish for 10lb 1 which included a nice 4lb 6 fish.

Third place went to Andy McCandless from Dromore with three fish weighing in at 9lb 7.  Ronnie McFadden’s 3lb 12 fish took the prize for the heaviest fish outside the prizes.

The fishery would like to thank all who attended and helped make the all nighter a great nights craic!  The next competition will be a evening competition on Saturday 28 July starting at 6pm and finishing at midnight. Both lakes will be open for this and the competition is open to all.
