He has a secret ambition to get his golf handicap down to single figures this season.

He is certainly going the right way to achieving just that.

It’s only the beginning of May and he has won three competitions already.

The Open Stableford was his most significant win so far.

Aidy, playing off a 15 handicap, went round in 75 shots, a nett 60 and a winning total of 45 points.

He birdied the long par four 5th hole, added on a further 9 pars and avoided the double bogeys altogether.

That’s the way to do it if you want to win.

Ian Briggs (17), a visitor, was second with 40 points.

John Convery (14) took the third prize with 35 points.

Kieran Magennis and another visitor, Gary Abernathy, both missed out on countback with 35 points each.

At the end of the day, there was no catching Aidy McEvoy.
