The strong defence of Adair, Cowan, McMurray and Liggett remained resolute in the face of dangerous Regent attacks.

The deadlock was broken by the visitors near the end of the first half after a miscommunication in the defence allowed Regent a simple goal.

The story was much the same in the second period, despite the rapid degradation of the surface due to the heavy rain making passing hockey difficult, despite a supreme effort from keeper Luke Skillen the visitors eventually doubled their lead.

Overall, it was a fantastic team effort from the 2XI who look strong before the start of their Dowdall Cup defence.
