Academy Seconds bow out of McCullough

Banbridge Academy Seconds went down 4-2 to Friends Fists in the McCullough Cup on Saturday morning. The game was a very tight affair and there was real progress on display as Coach Agnew heralded a change in tactics and attacked.

The Academy scored via Michael Young and Chris Campbell – his first Senior goal - and it took the late show from FSL to get passed Skillen in Goal. The seniors will enjoy a week off cup duty as the focus will return to the Firsts as they face Raphoe and CCB in their group games.

The U13s lost their first game of the season, indeed their first defeat in a full calendar year but will rue chances squandered. Their game was played at a tremendous pace with both sides showing some fantastic flair and mature hockey from the young guns. They will now reflect and learn from this – quality opposition is what they enjoy and Friends certainly deserved their win.

The 14s continue their superb start in September under Clarke – big Gibson and Patrick McNiff scoring two sublime goals in what was a solid test. They will look forward to their next test in CCB- on Saturday.

The 15s will play Friends at Havelock on Tuesday allowing a full squad to be given valuable game time.
