Aaron brings home British Open title

THE recent British Open DTL competition, held at the Mid-Wales Shooting Centre, saw several local faces make the trip across to take part in this prestigious event.

Yet there was one name that wasn’t just there to make up the numbers as some serious silverware was to come back across the water.

Aaron Smyth had been in fantastic form on the run-up to the annual competition but was to continue that form as he shot an incredible 100/300 to finish at the top of the board after the day’s shooting. However he was joined there by two others, N Dean and WE Philipson. The three were to go at it in a shoot-off, with Aaron again blasting away his rivals to take away the top prize.

A fantastic achievement, congratulations Aaron!

Congratulations also go to the Northern Ireland junior team members who also excelled in Wales, retaining their place as junior team winners. The team, namely David Henning, Aaron McDowell, Damien Corvan and new caps Mark Henning and Andrew Charleton, were in unbeatable form, and their first-place was very well-deserved.

Keep an eye for more shooting results in the coming weeks with European and World Championships still to be shot.
