After the great success of the primary summer hockey last week it was the turn of the teenagers at Dromore Ladies.

And there was no teenage angst in evidence with hockey, fitness and fun being the order of the day.

Again there was a fabulous turnout of girls with both Dromore club represented and a few visitors joining them for a spot of fun.

There were a lot of skills in evidence and the younger girls enjoyed the camaraderie with the seasoned players and gained a lot from playing against the older girls.

The weather was kind as always and medals were awarded for tournament, winners, best laugh, most annoying and, for the visitors, a special ‘This is how it’s done at Dromore’ award.

Check out the club’s website for registration details for the new season with registration day, Saturday August 31, before training recommences for juniors on Monday September 2.

Seniors are already back in training but there is still time to dust the summer dust of your hockey stick and join them on Saturday mornings and Wednesday evenings.

Last week Ferris Park was also warming up as the Juniors arrived in to kick off their warm-up for the new season at the first of two summer hockey camps.

The girls had all been inspired as Northern Ireland had hosted the World Police and Fire Games this month with many sports including hockey fielding participants from around the world in what has been billed as the friendliest games

The Year Three-Year Seven marched in full force with over 60 players hitting Ferris Park under a large team of enthusiastic coaches and blue skies.

The sun was shining as always, the atmosphere was friendly as Dromore always welcomes everyone of its members and visitors, plenty of chat and laughs and everyone sported their new t-shirt to get in some serious training and fun.

A great three days of hockey was topped off with lots of fun and tired but happy hockey players giving a big cheer.

The senior club is also back into pre-season training so join and kick start your fitness on Saturday mornings and Wednesday nights - check out the website for details.
