A SHOCKING video showing youths fighting in Solitude Park has been removed from YouTube following criticism that it was giving the town a bad name.
Last week the Leader revealed that the video had been available on the site for all to see and contained one particularly nasty moment where a young boy kicked another directly in the face. Local councillor Brendan Curran condemned the video saying it portrayed the town in a negative light.
Mr Curran welcomed the video’s removal but said Google, which owns YouTube, needs to take a more pro-active approach when it comes to videos featuring graphic violence.
“I would give them credit for taking action once their attention was drawn to it but they are leaving it to the public to alert them,” said the councillor. “Videos like this need to be scouted out as soon as possible and removed.
