Work is set to begin on new Health Centre

A new health centre for Banbridge came a step closer after it was revealed that a preferred bidder has been appointed.

This will now allow work to begin on the new centre later this month or early in December.

The Department of Health has allocated over £16 million for the health centre and it is hoped that it will be completed by summer 2015.

Local MLA Sam Gardiner has welcomed the news that work is almost ready to begin on the new health centre.

“I contacted the Health Minister when I became aware of delays and the Minister has told me that Felix O’Hare Ltd has now been appointed as the preferred bidder for the new Banbridge Health Centre. I am delighted with this important development.

“Following a mandatory standstill period the contract will be let and it is anticipated works on site will commence in November or December of this year with completion summer 2015.

“This is good positive news for Banbridge. Within two years Banbridge will have a brand new health facility and I am personally very pleased that a project I have been pushing hard with the Minister is now coming through,” he concluded.
