Women’s group calls meeting to discuss alleged harassment

A LONDONDERRY women’s group has called a public meeting to discuss the alleged PSNI harassment of individuals and their families in the Creggan Estate.

The Creggan Women’s Group called the meeting which will take place at the ‘Corn Beef Tin’ in Central Drive on Wednesday evening (April 18).

“As a result of persistent, ongoing and continued PSNI harassment of individuals and their families in the Creggan community, the Creggan Women’s Group have decided to take the initiative and call a public meeting on this issue of mounting public concern,” the group stated.

Members of the 32 County Sovereignty Movement and other dissident republican organisations have made allegations of harassment in the past.

But the PSNI said: “Anyone who has a complaint to make about a police officer, or officers, should contact the Police Ombudsman’s Office so that it can be fully investigated.”
