Woman who crashed car was driving while drunk

The court heard that at 7.45pm there was a road traffic collision on the Banbridge Road, Gilford.

Brown was one of the parties involved and when police spoke to her they could smell alcohol on her breath.

She said she had taken alcohol a short time previously.

She failed the roadside test and an evidential test gave a reading of 86. The front offside tyre on the vehicle was defective.

A solicitor for the defendant said she had been under considerable stress at the time and had driven to her partner’s mother’s home.

District Judge, Mr Paul Copeland, said the reading indicated that Brown was heavily intoxicated.
