Winner Donates Prize To Charity

THE committee members of Rathfriland Motor Club Ltd presented a cheque for £100 to Action MS. This was on behalf of Wesley Patterson, winner of the Newry Motor Works Time Attack Trophy at last year's East Coast Customs Spelga Pass Hillclimb.

Patterson launched his Mk2 Escort up Spelga Pass last August to take the fastest time for a Rally Car. When he was awarded the cash prize at the finish he graciously requested that the club donate the fee to their nominated charity.

“It was a very generous gesture by Wesley to offer the prize to our nominated charity” said Wesley Johnston, Rathfriland Motor Club Chairman. “We had no hesitation in contacting Action MS to present these much needed funds towards their good work.”

The 2009 Spelga Hillclimb was won for the second year in a row by local Rallycross ace Lawrence Gibson in his Metro 6R4 supercar. The 2010 event is scheduled to take place on its traditional date on the last Saturday in August.
