The West Down Beagles Hunt Club has formally announced its end after more than half a century in existence.
The news that the club had been effectively dissolved as of early last month came in a brief statement from its Master, Mr W Wood, in which he thanked farmers and landowners in the area.
“It is with regret,” said Mr Wood, “that we announce the dissolution of the West Down Beagles Hunt Club.
“The Master and members would like to take this opportunity to thank all farmers and landowners who permitted our hounds to hunt over their land for the past 52 years.
“With their consent and support we have enjoyed many days of good hunting.
“We wish you many years of prosperous farming in the future.”
