The former factory worker described as a ‘devoted and caring husband’ was married to Gladys and was a father of four. His children were Wallace, Jennifer, Heather and Ian.

Norman was born on February 15, 1928 and lived his early years in Gransha before moving to Ballynagross and then Ballybrick.

He married Gladys Toal in April 1960 in Glascar Presbyterian Church.

After marriage, he moved to Hillsborough and five years later he moved to Banbridge where he lived the remainder of his life.

Norman was a former worker at the Optical Factory, Lurgan and then Ewart Liddell Linen Factory until his retirement.

He also enjoyed farming and working with tractors in his earlier years.

He continued to plant potatoes each year in pots and containers around his home.

He loved a chat and a cup of tea with family and friends and enjoyed having his grandchildren around him.

The funeral took place on Saturday, May 7 at Bannside Presbyterian Church.

The large congregation heard Rev. Dr. S Hutchinson pay a fitting tribute to the esteem in which Norman was held.

The hymns ‘Will Your Anchor Hold’ and ‘Abide With Me’ were sung. Claire Costello sang ‘The Lord’s My Shepherd.’ Mr A Mitchell presided at the organ. William Bell and Co. conducted the funeral.
