Wandering ducklings re-homed

THERE was ‘Quack Thinking’ on the part of Mountvale Private Nursing Home staff this week after some many ducklings wandered onto their grounds and they used a radio appeal to ensure the furry friends would get new owners.

The ducklings were rescued from the attention of cats and fed by kitchen staff. The owner of A1 Tyres, who has the benefit of a farming background, heard the appeal and later took all 10 ducklings under his caring wing.

A Mountvale spokesperson told the Leader: “He said they need heat; he advised us they are Mallard ducklings, wild ducklings. He said the mother has been nesting them nearby and she has been trying to take the ducklings to water.

“He has promised to take good care of them.”
