Vintage road run held at Ballyward

The annual vintage road run was held at Ballyward Church on Wednesday June 3 to raise money for The Southern Area Hospice.

Over 70 vehicles attended, some by trailer. There were cars, tractors, motor cycles and even a trike on the two runs.

On completion of the runs all the participants and spectators enjoyed a beautiful Ballyward supper, the home baking was greatly appreciated by all. Indeed several requests were made for recipes and carryout’s.

The Rector was taken on the run by Thomas Martin in a Morris Minor, and having had two years in a vintage car has requested something different for next year. All suggestions to the organisers will be considered.

Organisers of the event were delighted to see so many people enjoying themselves. They do not charge anyone for the event, but simply place a bucket on the table for donations to the Hospice. This year by Thursday night their total is £998.93 for The Southern Area Hospice.

Organisers would like to thank all who helped, participated, attended or donated to make the event a success especially the ladies for the supper and the motor cycle marshals.
