Village's new Spar store creates 25 jobs

Twenty-five new jobs have been created in the local community with the official opening of a new state of the art 3,150 square foot Spar store in Poyntzpass.

The new look store is located on 18 – 20 Chapel Street, Poyntzpass and is the latest store to join the Spar network of 280 stores across NI.

The store, which is owned and operated by Poyntzpass locals James and Corinna Trainor; well-known owners of a long standing family business, will offer shoppers a comprehensive range of top quality locally sourced products and services.

The new store will have plenty of features to offer such as a new ‘Barista Bar’, which serves tea and freshly ground coffee and a Quinn’s Hand Made Gelato ice cream kiosk just in time for summer.

Deli and hot food to go facilities have been installed at the new store, selling an extensive range of on the go breakfast and lunch options including hot fry’s, sandwiches, salad boxes, stew, lasagne and Sunday dinners, all of which is freshly prepared by dedicated staff on the premises.

Fred Elliot’s Butchers, The Shelbourne Bakery and Windsor Bakery are included in a long list of local suppliers who are championed in store who will provide shoppers with a delicious variety of fresh, pre-packed meats and a wide range of fresh bread and bakery products on a daily basis.

In addition, shoppers will be able to avail of additional services including an EMO forecourt, an ATM, onsite store parking for shopper convenience, customer toilets, Lotto facilities and a Post Office Local concession which are both coming soon.

Proud store owner, James Trainor said, “We are delighted that this recent significant investment into our new store in Poyntzpass has allowed us to create 25 new jobs.

“The Trainor Bros. family has been trading in the village of Poyntzpass for over 50 years reinforcing our position as advocates of supporting the local economy and investing back into our community.

“I am extremely proud that the vision myself and my father Sean had five years ago to establish a local convenience store and filling station in the area has today become a reality.

“Despite no longer being with us, I know that he would be extremely proud of the fantastic new Spar store, another local business in the Trainor name.

The store will be open 6.30am – 10.30pm, Mon-Sun.
