Video: Larne leads the way with early years scheme

A pilot early years education scheme for special needs children could be rolled out on a nationwide basis after its success in the Larne area.

Eleven nursery units and primary schools have united to form Larne Early Educational Programme (LEEP) which shares staff expertise in supporting children with special educational needs. The aim is to promote a smoother transition between pre-school and primary school.

Local education providers involved in the project are Corran Integrated Primary School, Linn Primary School, St. Anthony’s Nursery School, Moyle Primary School, Little Robins’ Preschool, Harbour Bears’ Preschool, St Anthony’s Primary School, St. MacNissi’s Primary School, Roddensvale School, Horizon Sure Start and Hansel and Gretel Pre-School.
